Helicopter Ditching (Helicopter
Underwater Escape Training - HUET)
 |
The aim of
this course is to training students to properly react to, and
survive, a helicopter ditching at sea. The training is composed of
classroom sessions on all aspects of offshore helicopter
operations, safety and survival equipment, procedures for ditching
preparation, upright helicopter evacuation, and inverted
(underwater) egress techniques. The practical aspect of the course
is surface and underwater evacuation exercises conducted in the
Modular Egress Training Simulator (METSTM). The METSTM
utilizes functional replicas of the emergency exits installed in
the commonly used helicopters currently flying offshore. This
gives the student realistic and state of the art training with the
same type of equipment they will be functioning in a real
situation.
