Scope
The First Aid Level 3 (Advanced) course provides extensive training for individuals who may need to handle more severe and complex medical emergencies. This three-day course encompasses all content from Levels 1 and 2, along with advanced first aid techniques and comprehensive management of various medical emergencies. It is ideal for those who require the highest level of first-aider knowledge and practical skills, without needing to complete Levels 1 or 2 first.

General Course Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, delegates will be able to:
  • Apply advanced first aid techniques in various emergency scenarios.
  • Perform and manage advanced CPR and airway management.
  • Recognise and manage complex conditions like shock, fainting, dislocations, fractures, head, and spinal injuries.
  • Handle severe medical emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, and seizures.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and practical applications using advanced first aid equipment.
  • Implement effective reporting, recording, and hygiene practices in first aid situations.
Course Content:
  1. Role of the first aider as part of the chain of survival
  2. CPR theory
  3. Recognition and management of choking and recovery position
  4. Practical CPR and recovery position
  5. Recognition and management of bleeding and wounds
  6. Recognition and management of sprains and strains
  7. Recognition and management of burns
  8. Recognition and management of shock, fainting, and unconsciousness
  9. Recognition and management of dislocation and fracture
  10. Recognition and management of head and spinal injury
  11. Recognition and management of poisoning
  12. Recognition and management of stings and bites
  13. Recognition and management of heat stress and hypothermia
  14. Recognition and management of eye injury
  15. Recognition and management of general medical emergencies, including anaphylactic shock, angina pectoris, and heart attacks
  16. Recognition and management of strokes, diabetes, asthma, and seizures
  17. Simulations using first-aid equipment
  18. Practical & written assessment

Certificate:
All persons who successfully complete the course based on the performance standards will receive
  • A PT Samson Tiara certificate for First Aid Level 3 (Advanced First Aid);
  • A laminated wallet course qualification card.
Prerequisites:
  • Valid Medical Certificate from Doctor/Clinic.
